NEWS RELEASE 20th January 2006 Winning Portraits Science Photo Library's (SPL's) 2006 calendar has picked up two trophies in this year's National Business Calendar Awards (NBCA). The calendar was named as the winner in the Free Standing calendar section and winner for Colour reproduction. The theme chosen for this year's calendar was "portraits" and the calendar presents SPL's own eclectic mix of images ranging from the more conventional portrait of Albert Einstein (September) to a micrograph of a blood sucking tick (October) and a forensic scientist modelling a clay face to help identify a victim's skull (February). Silver ink was chosen for printing the cover and backs of the calendar pages, to reinforce 2006 as the 25th anniversary since SPL was founded.
