Amber Fossil Research
Published in Quo, Spain
The ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility) produces high energy X-rays known as synchrotron light. The beam is one thousand billion times brighter than a standard medical X-ray. One of the key projects at the ESRF has been the imaging of tiny fossils hidden in opaque amber. The X-ray data combined with 3-D modelling software allow scientists to see these fossil creatures.
